Midwest Grape Growers can help individual growers achieve goals they might not attain independently. It makes sense: by working together as a group, Midwest Grape Grower members can better compete with outside juice providers.  It isn’t a Midwest Wine if it is not made 100% of Midwest grapes and fruits.

1. Increase Vineyard Income and Solve Problems
The ultimate reason for Midwest Grape Growers is to solve problems. Most often, the problems are related to reducing the production cost and finding buyers willing to compensate you fairly for your time and effort, but there are other benefits.  Entering your product up for auction will give you the confidence that you’re getting the best price for your product.

2. Increased communications for Growers.
Understand the issues and come together to solve those issues as a group.  Or simply share your challenges with others in your community can help with the emotional fluctuations of vineyard life.  You never know; someone might have already solved an issue and may offer suggestions.  With the repost open communications we have today, there is no reason we cannot hear you, and you cannot hear us.

3. Save on Equipment Expenses
Tractors, sprayers, harvesters, presses, filters, and other machines may come to mind first, don’t overlook other opportunities like sharing greenhouse space. Especially when it comes to more oversized items, shared rental is also an option. Remember that these partnerships don’t have to be limited to your next-door neighbors. It’s not uncommon for vineyards located hundreds of miles apart to share access to equipment. Renting your equipment can help reduce the financial load on you by allowing others to rent the equipment or hire you to operate the equipment.

4. Improve Marketing
Cooperative marketing can represent many benefits to individual growers.  Include sharing advertising costs and consolidating your marketing efforts to local wineries and restaurants.  Of course, this same principle also works in larger-scale contexts. Pooling efforts to advertise Midwest Grapes nationwide will help you when you go to market. Together we can educate the Midwest that they don’t have to travel outside the Midwest to enjoy a great wine made from Midwest Grown Grapes.

5. Gain Control and Political Power
Growers working together means building a partnership to gain more control over many aspects of your business. Together we can identify the needs and values that are most important to us.  As a group, we can also gain political leverage. Once we collectively identify priorities and develop strategies, we will empower you with the tools to share them with your legislators and regulators.
